I think that it is really difficult to capture one's essence in an essay. I like to think that we are a bit more complicated than that but for all intents and purposes: I am a happy person. I like anything to do with the outdoors, being close to nature invokes serenity. Colorful autumn, brilliant spring, stark winter or hazy summer all mean the same for me as long as I am out in it. I like clean and simple lines as conveyed in the concept of the "distance between two points" or better still in communication.
A potential friend is transparent, sincere and kind. This person wouldn't intentionally try to hurt a fly, a fruit fly (as annoying as they might be)
The friend is smart, smart enough to recall what it is like to look at the world through the eyes of a child.
